The assembly bills below represent multiple efforts to pass a statewide high school Ethnic Studies Graduation Requirement. In addition, California Assembly Bill 1460 is a bill calling for an Ethnic Studies college graduation requirement for the California State University System. Legal Rulings Related to Ethnic Studies
Noah González; Jesus Gonzalez, Manuel Barcelo and Julian Barcelo, Plantiffs vs. Diane Douglas, Superintendent of Public Instruction in her Official Capacity et. al. Defendants United States District Court, District of Arizona. This memorandum of Decision rules in favor of the students and their parents asserting that their first and fourteenth Amendment Rights were violated when the state closed down the TUSD Mexican American Studies program.
